In the weeks it takes to create a website, (in collaboration with Cem’s technical expertise), I also take Bella for daily walks.
We arrive back home from a nature-filled ramble through the Pleasant Park woods, and I notice a tiny shoot of bright green beside the front steps, peaking through last fall’s dead leaves.
“No, no, little hyacinth! Stay underground! It is too soon for you to be stretching out to the light.”
It is at least a month early. Although I cannot imagine that it will survive the coming weeks of winter, I cannot help but feel the song of spring and rejoice in the anticipation of long, warm sunny days. The hyacinth’s appearance is a precious sign of hope.
